A Remarkable First Year
Every great organization begins with an idea, and for North Broward Arts, that idea was simple: to bring people together through the arts.
North Broward Arts was founded by a dedicated group of business leaders and entertainment professionals who also happen to be artists. Together, they believe that artists deserve opportunities to create, exhibit, teach, and inspire. With no large staff, no permanent office, and only the determination of its volunteer board members—who often worked from their own homes using their personal computers—the organization set out to make a difference throughout Broward County.
During its first year, North Broward Arts quickly became more than an arts organization—it became a community. Where local artists found encouragement, friendships were formed, and partnerships began to flourish. The organization welcomed artists of all backgrounds and embraced the belief that art should be accessible to everyone.
One of its greatest strengths was its commitment to inclusivity. North Broward Arts continued to support artists with autism and celebrated creativity in all its forms, ensuring that every artist had the opportunity to be seen, appreciated, and valued.
The organization also built strong relationships within Broward County’s arts community. It began working with the City of Deerfield Beach and local organizations to develop exciting cultural events. Plans for a family-friendly Arts Festival at Constitution Park and Arboretum will bring together professional artists from across Broward County to showcase their work in a beautiful public setting. The festival will feature children’s activities, hands-on art workshops, live book readings, and educational experiences designed to make art accessible and enjoyable for people of every age.
Throughout the year, North Broward Arts introduced artist workshops at Fierce Art Gallery in Wilton Manors and Plunge Beach Resort. And let's not forget our Featured Artist on the first Sunday of the month: Sunday Jazz in Esplanade Park. With local talent, recruited volunteers, expanded its membership, and strengthened its presence through social media, community outreach, and strategic partnerships. Every success was achieved through countless volunteer hours and the generosity of people who believed in the organization’s mission.
Challenges were inevitable. As a new nonprofit organization, resources were limited; funding was scarce, and every accomplishment required creativity, perseverance, and teamwork. Yet each obstacle became another opportunity to prove that passion and dedication can accomplish extraordinary things.
By the end of its first year, North Broward Arts had established itself as a growing cultural organization with a clear purpose: Creating Community Through the Arts. It had earned the trust of artists, supporters, civic leaders, and residents who recognized the value of bringing art into everyday life.
The first year was not simply about organizing events—it was about building a foundation. A foundation based on creativity, inclusion, education, collaboration, and community.
As North Broward Arts looks toward the future, its first chapter will always be remembered as the year a dream became reality. What began with a handful of professional artists, entertainment professionals, and business leaders from Southeast Florida has grown into an organization dedicated to enriching lives, supporting artists, and inspiring future generations.
The story of North Broward Arts is only beginning, but its first year has already proven one thing: when a community comes together through the arts, everyone becomes part of the masterpiece.
